This Alabama Hill basement is now a bright, functional permitted ADU. We removed the interior stairwell connecting the basement to the main home to fully separate the unit and reconfigured the layout by removing an old bathroom to create a more efficient laundry area. We leveled the floors, moved an existing window for improved layout and light, added semi-custom cabinets with quartz countertops, installed updated appliances, and added a dedicated minisplit for independent climate control. New flooring, tile, and paint modernized the space.
